The Must-Haves: Fall Fashion Favorites
Cinnamon, crunching leaves, soft sweaters, apple pie … can’t you just imagine it all? Of course you can, because it’s October! Whether you’re heading to the backyard to play flag football with the family or inside carving pumpkins with your girls, everyone is pulling out their booties and blanket scarves to cope with the cooler air. Although we do love these classic fall basics, which are sure to keep us nice and cozy all the way into winter, we know we were born to be more than basic. We want you to embrace your inner fall fashionista, which is why we put together our top fall 2017 fashion trends that go seamlessly from warm to cold weather.
Cold weather means warm outerwear, but don’t sacrifice style for comfort. It’s time to embrace long jackets and capes. Long jackets give you a regal look that can be dressed up or down with just the change of a few accessories. Go for the simple look by throwing a long jacket over a sweater and jeans, but also don’t be afraid to take it way past sunset. Grab your favorite heels and pair with your go-to studded clutch and you are ready for a night out on the town.
The idea of bundling up sometimes gets me a little nervous. I always think about losing my body shape, which is why I am all about the belting trend. Belts, both large and small, are making a comeback! We are talking belted vests, coats, capes, and more. Imagine a chunky sweater with a big leather belt and jeans finished off with thigh high boots. The look is low key, yet seriously stylish.
Go the opposite direction by getting creative with a piece that usually is shown off all summer long, but can definitely be an autumn must. It is not every day you see a maxi skirt in a fall/winter collection, but we dare you to be bold this holiday season. Pair a maxi with booties and a chunky sweater for style that is bound to have your friends asking you for style tips.
As you can tell, I am all about using transition pieces, and off-the-shoulder and cold shoulder tops are next on my list. Most people think that an exposed neck or shoulders just won't do in the winter, but my trick is making sure that you keep it cozy with warm wool pants and boots, topped with a fun beanie to show off the cold shoulder look in the fall.
Extra, extra read all about it: velvet is here to stay and there is no doubt about it. That’s right, velvet made a resurgence in early 2016 and it doesn’t plan on going back into hiding anytime soon. Whether it’s bottoms, jewelry, or shoes, velvet pretty much works on everything. I am totally loving velvet jumpsuits for the fall in olive green and burgundy tones.
