IFFLA: Indian Cinema in the city of Stars
With the arrival of the spring season comes the 16th annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. This year’s festival has so many amazing film and masterclasses, one of which is held by one of our favorite show’s actors, Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar! Basically, it was filled with pure cinematic genius and a wonderful coming together of the Indian community! As founder, Christina Mourda says, “IFFLA is crucial to giving [Indian] films a strong platform in the US, and we provide opportunities for the filmmakers to visit Los Angeles and introduce themselves to the biggest entertainment industry in the world.” Well, we love this festival and decided to round up our favorite parts of the festival for you!

- This year, in honor of Sridevi, they decided to do a screening of Chandi (1989) and it was simply touching. We couldn’t have asked for a better tribute.
- The Los Angeles premiere of In The Shadows! This is an emotional journey that will keep you on your toes the whole time. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee and was directed Dipesh Jain, both of whom were in attendance.
- IFFLA screened 3 incredible documentaries all with female directors, including the documentary called Lovesickand Ask A Sexpert.
